Am I Missing Anything? New System Install Soon!

I am planning on doing a system-wide upgrade on my '05 Nissan Xterra. For the last two years I've been running just subs, leaving my factory speakers intact. No more! I now seek the entrance to Valhalla! I have yet to order anything but I want to know if there is anything I am missing and need to order / be aware of when I do the install myself within the next few weeks.

I plan on spoiling myself with:

A single Diamond Audio D612D4. The D6 will be running off my current amp (Alpine M1005) which I figure to be pushing around ~850 watts. I also will be ordering a box from FisherCustoms spec'd to 1.25 cu ft tuned to 33 Hz.

I also plan on upgrading the wiring to my sub amp with this: KnuKonceptz 1/0.

And for the front stage: Image Dynamics CTX65CS. I will be running them passive as I do not have the patience nor skill to go active. I also am struggling to figure out where I should install the crossovers. In my truck, the front speakers are actually 6x9s so I am getting this adaptor. Is there anything I should do to this adaptor?

For the IDs, I am getting a Sundown 100.2 from a gentleman on this forum very soon. This will also help bring power to my Sundown: Kolossus 4 Gauge

I also plan on adding sound deadener to my front (inner and outer) and rear doors (one layer, but where? Inner or outer?) as well as my trunk floor and door. So I am going with RAAMat. I am thinking of ordering two rolls. Would ~120 sq. feet be enough for my truck?

I plan on picking up speaker wire from a local shop. Probably 10 gauge for everything. I also will pick up some extra 1/0 wire so I can perform the Big Three on my truck.

My current HU is a Alpine CDA-9854. I really hate how it (and single-din decks) looks in my console and would like a double-din touchscreen as I believe it looks more stock to me. I was looking at the Sony XAVW1, Clarion MAX-685BT, or the Kenwoord DDX712 (or DDX812?) but need some convincing. Is it worth the money? Will the sound be better? I probably will check out a few stereo shops within the next week to play with a few touch screens. I am a big fan of Apple so any touch screen where the interface reminds me of my iPhone gets bonus points! So any suggestions / feedback would be much appreciated! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is there anything I am missing from my "shopping list"? Any tips, advice, rule of thumb, unwritten rule, common sense, Darwin Awards, etc that I should be aware of? This will be my first major install and I do not want to mess anything up especially since I am a little OCD when it comes to my truck. What tools will I need to make this install as smoothly as possible? I was thinking of a panel puller and a drill but that's all I can think of.

Mates, I would really like your help! I promise I will set up an install log for you bassheads / audiophiles once I get everything finalized! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

only thing i see you missing is a distro block to split your 1/0ga power to a 4ga wire for both amps. for speaker wire 10ga is a little excessive(cept for the subs). you can run 12ga-14ga speaker wire.

ehhh i suppose a second set of rca's for the door speakers.

I'd figure out what that sub wants for airspace because as mentioned 1.25 cf seems really small.

Also as mentioned, 10ga is really big for speaker wire, even for subs with the amount of power that you're running.

As far as the sound of the HU, you aren't going to be able to tell the difference among quality head units. The Pioneer Avic units are really popular with the Frontier guys. I have a Kenwood DNX-8120 for my new Frontier

Is the ported box for a 12'' D6 really 1.25ft^3? That seems pretty small.....
That's what Diamond Audio recommends for the D6s. I would go bigger if it would sound better / deeper but the search feature didn't reveal much help / box sizes so I am staying with the 1.25ft^3.

Perhaps 12ga for the sub and 14ga for the components. That way I can tell the difference between the two if I have to.

I was also planning on doing two runs of power wire but a distro block would be nice. Where can I find a fused one (and what size fuse)?

bump!

would 1.25ft^3 be okay or should I go bigger? What would the difference be betweeen 1.25 and 1.5 other than a little more low end sound?

also where can i find a nice distro block with a fuse?
