So basically i think i have the worst luck ever with orion amps. I bought an orion 2500d from shane (hccafan) last november and about a month after i had it installed it fried and i got it warrantied and was a sent wcc-d5000 in replacement. I installed that and it worked great for a few months with no problems at all. Then all of the sudden in around april or may it let out the magic smoke unexpectedly so i got it warrantied and was sent a refurbed 2500d in replacement, but decided to sell it and try out the new line hoping i might have better luck with it. So i sold the amp to bellbballplayer on this forum and it worked great for him for the short time he had it (he sold it recently to another forum member). So i ordered a HCCA-d5000 from shane and have had it sittin in my room for a couple weeks waitin to save up some money to redo all my wiring and beef up my electrical as to ensure i wouldnt be going through ANOTHER amp. So last week i started re-insatlling my system with the help of photocrazy8. I added 2 kinetik hc2400's in the back in addition to my optima yellowtop up front and 220 amp excessive ampergae alt. We ran 1/0 from the front optima to the first kinetik in the back and grounded it to the chassis, then wired the two kinetiks together positive to positive and neg to neg. From there we ran 1/0 from the pos terminal to a distro and ran dual 4 guage from the distro to the orion and then ran 1/0 from the neg terminal to a distro and used this to ground the orion. Then we wired my 2 d4 15" RE SX's down to 1 ohm and hooked them up to the orion. So when we were done with that we played a bass cd for a few min just to make sure everything was working ok and it was (it pounded like crazy). So i turned the gain all way down and didnt play it for a few days because at the moment i hadn't yet installed my new comp set and was lacking any highs so the having just a sub was pointless. So today i went back to finish installing my system and as we were setting up all the crossovers and stuff to get the front stage sounding right the subs were playing along with the gain still all the way down. As we were making adjustments to the eq on the deck the orion starts smelling funny and the subs stop playing but the amp doesnt go into protect or anything. So now i get power to the orion but i get no output, yet the amp doesnt go into protect. Is my luck just that bad??. I'm getting very frustrated with orion and thinking about just selling my d5000 when i get it back fom warranty and looking for a diff brand. Anyone know what could be causing this?. I know my wiring is good and i wasnt even pushing the amp hard at all, it was barely even putting out any power. What are ur guys' thoughts? You think i should give em one more shot or jus say **** em and go a differnt route?. I am so unbelieveably frustrated with orion at this point its not even funny but the price is nice and with shane i get warranty which has obviously come in handy for me. But at the same time im beginning to look like a major jackass who cant install an amp if his life depeneded on it. I dunno what the deal is, ive never had any other amp give me so much grief. And i'm especiaslly baffled because i see so many other people on the forum who are extremely staisfied with their 2500d's and d500's. Sorry for the long post but i had to vent my frustration //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
