if you wanted to show them a real thanks..sell your system and give them the money you make from it. then save up for a new system again. something along the lines of what i would do.

Dude, you're giving them the money from the car you are selling, to get the ac from them. Think of it like that. Technically you did pay for it, jsut got a **** good deal.

im also applying to law school in like 2 weeks, and with law school, the American Bar Association actually forbids you from working more than 20 hours a week while being a law student. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif So that sucks for me, i am gonna be raking in all kinds of crazy law school debt on top of knowing my parents just handed me a 22,000 dollar car for 4 thousand bucks.

haha, i tried using that type of justification, but it is a 22,000 dollar car they are giving me, and my car will sell for like 6,000 tops if i am lucky.

thats not a bad idea, but honestly, they would probably rather have me save money for law school, then hand them 800 bucks, and then spend another 800 on a system.

It seems like you have a plan for your future and your parents are just making another investment in your future. I could understand looking down on it if you are just taking 12 hours each semester, making bad grades and partying all the time...but from the other thread you just made it doesn't seem that way. They are probably just trying to make things easier for you while you are in school so you can do better, study harder and get a great education. Seems like they are making a good investment to me...

But it is nice to know that your independent.. i pay all my own bills and repairs and stuff, but my dad give me 200$ a month while im in college, just to help out... so thats good.

im really not that independant anymore due to college though. Through high school, i paid for all my own stuff. Now i can't even pay for my own gas because i simply don't have the money. I could get a job working like 20 hours a week, but that would really intefere with my classes and the whole grad school application process, which takes up massive amounts of my time.

I'm 16 so a little younger than you and I drive an 89 montero and my step mom drives and an 06 MDX and if they said I can trade my montero for that I would take it in a second.

What's so bad about having a car that your parents gave you. As long as your not some spoiled rotten rich kid who gets everything(doesn't sound like you are) then don't worry about it.
