Move to San Francisco?

Me and two friends were thinking of moving to San Fran from Chicago. none of us have lived outside the chicago area, and we would be basically be leaving everything we know behind. between the 3 of us, we can make good money (young college grads with some experience). basically i am looking for reasons not to go. aside from it's expensive i can't think of any downsides to going there. hows the nightlife? any of you guys from the area? anything that we should know? thanks.

SF is a great place to live. I was there earlier today and there was some good looking womens running around. It's a bit hard getting around because of every street being, "One Way Only."

I've just been there on vacation. if you go closer to the beach, and fishermans warf, you have a really bad fishy smell. Other then that, I really like the place. Nice mild weather for the most part. But it is very expensive to live their.

well i am an engineer, and my buddy right now is a manager for Grainger inside sales, and the other is a chef. we all went to college, and can probably afford the rent. better to live in the city or burbs?

edit: we will have cars too

Im movin there next month. SF is great. so many things to do there! it can be complicated getting used to the area at first and finding your way around but you can always call 511 for public transportation info. and then just figuring out where the good and bad areas to live are. but i love SF very kick *** place to be!

well all that's stopping me right now is i don't have a job there. i am perfectly fine with my situation here, so i am not going to go there broke. i am applying for jobs like every day. if i can find a good job out there, i would move the next day.

SF is a great place to live if you are gay.. Nothing wrong with gay peeps just saying if I loved the **** I would move to P-Town out here in MA.

my truck got towed the last time i was SF...

i live in the midwest like yourself and came from a large midwestern city (detroit) and i've been to san francisco and i must say, that is probably the worst place i ever been too. i've also been to chicago and i would much rather live in chicago then SF. the people are just weird and missing something there. the cost of living is absolutely absurd.
