aluminum flared ports

so let me get this straight if its not sold by a port manufacturer its not a port?

or is it if its not sold by the original manufacturer as a port its not a port?

nobody makes one?

acoupower when they were around.... made a 7 &10" aluminum ports here is a pic

and a bunch of the overseas companies had them in 2-4" on display at ces this year so im sure they have been making them for a while they show up in prefab boxes all the time

The audiobahn you linked to does not use metal ports, it uses chrome plated plastic ports. For all I know the tiny pic of the other box you linked uses the same. If someone posts a link to premade metal ports, I'll be the first to say my bad. But, you haven't supplied that info, have you?

audio bahn did make boxes with aluminum ports a few years ago.. so yes someone did make them. a flared port is a flared port no matter who made it.

no where did i ask what to make it out of. i am asking where to buy it. so no,my response to you was not out of line.

So it turns out you were the one who misread. When I said "what to make it out of" I was not referring to the raw materials, I was referring to the component parts. Someone above posted a link to an alum flare fitting that could be welded to an aluminum pipe to create an aluminum flare port. That is what I meant by "what it is made out of".

If you are going to get uppity about reading comprehension, make sure you have all your own shit in a row first.

No, the abahn is definitely plastic. Ive been around a thousand of those boxes. Sorry.

The second box I have no idea who makes, and the pic is far too small to even guess what the ports are made of.

Yes, because a pic of ports with a metal like finish means they must be metal, right? No where in that ad does it list metal ports.

Learn how to read... good one. You speak as if I didnt already explain how its YOU who misread me, not the other way around. I guess I should be questioning your comprehension skills right about now...? And, you should be more polite to someone whose just been trying to help you. Really, even if you think Im wrong (and I may be, I dont know everything), what makes you think its acceptable to act like an ******* to me?

I dont know what to tell you, Ive been around many of those audiobahn boxes, the ones Ive all seen were chrome plated plastic. And frankly, Im skeptical audiobahn would use true aluminum ports. For one thing, it would be a significant additional cost of the box (like double) for a relatively obscure aesthetic feature. Second, its widely known that metal, unless very think, has a tendency to 'ring' under vibration and add its own coloration to the sound. This is why you never see sheet metal enclosures. Metal ports might look cool, but they would hardly be an ideal material to use.

I appreciate the support kman, but really my join date or post count doesn't make me right, or wrong. The only respect I feel Ive earned is from me taking time from my day to come here and try to help the topic. I think that earned being treated with respect, instead of hostility. But some people get mad if you dont give them the answer they are hoping to hear.
