here's my situation...i have a sub here with an aluminium voice coil...problem is that it was reconed and now when its bouncing it sounds like the coil is grazing on the centre pole:( ...or whatever its called...so i wanna know what can i do to stop the noise from the grazing...

it was reconed...and it makes the noise...

now im trying to recone myself and i see that the coil still grazes on the pole

did you pull it out and listen to it?

If you pulled it out and listened to it out in the open, and it really is scrapping...the only thing to do is run it till it pops, then recone it.

but...you might have something like a window rattling that sounds like the sub is mest up.

just check it out.

the only way to fix a rubbing coil is to recone it... or somehow bend the former/stretch the spider somehow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif so that the coil is properly aligned. AFAIK, the second option isnt going to be doable

something could of got in the vent of the magnet, i recently had a sub that i thought was blown cuz it was making that scratching noice so i though what the hell, might *** well blow it, well after a while it poped and stayed out, i thought it was dead, so i took it apart and low be hold there was a bb in the way that wasnt lettign the coil get back down. made me unhappy, ruined a decent sub

i did...i even popped of the dust cap and checked closely...its the coil...

well im reconing myself...but i have to use separate spider, cone and VC...so its gonna be a little hard to glue that together

the first recone was a guy who does recones for everyone i know

and i can recone...but i mostly just replace the surround or replace horn and tweeter diaphrams...
