Alternator ?

My younger brother just bought a 2000 Integra GSR hatch. He wants to put a system in it and I told him I would help. I looked up what kind of alternator the car has and it has an 80a max Alt. Since my parents bought him the car were not allowed to do too much electrical work. I want to know what are the capabilities of this Alt? What kind of system could be run from it without needing anything besides the Big 3 and a new battery? Mainly my bro just wants SQ with some wang when he gets a craving. Any suggestions are welcome.

Im not sure what you are asking.....Do you want suggested amps and then suggested electrical for them or just suggested electrical for a random amp?

WHat amp(s) does he plan on using?

Max dimension, Budget etc..

Ok I understand, I'll try and re-phrase.

-Looking for a single sub setup, SQ orientated. Space isn't an issue w/ a 15in or below sub. Sub will be going in a sealed enclosure which I will make.

- Doing Big 3 and New under hood battery.

- I was considering an Fi Q, or RE SE but i need to know if the 80a Alt could power an amp with enough RMS for them.

- Budget is $950 for: Amp,Sub,Wiring Kit, Head Unit

What kind of front and/or rear speakers are you looking for? What about your sound staging? If you were planning on using OEM speakers, GOOD LUCK on trying to make an SQ car. I'll bet you can't do it. All OEM speakers are "CRAP!" in my opinion. No matter how good the manufactures claim's it to be. Why is it that NO SQ vehicle was entered using OEM speakers.

:fyi:If you want an SQ car, be prepared to empty your bank acct. It's harder to make an SQ vehicle then an dB vehicle. There are to many variables.

I am also into SQ (not for competition), I spent about $5,000.00 on the system I have now. This amt. does int include it trial and error of the additional accessories I purchased earlier. I probably spent around $10,000.00, and I still want it cleaner.

Like I said "be prepared to empty your bank acct," because that is what you will end up doing over time.

I hope this does not put a damper on you plans, but this is just ro prepare yourself that this WILL happen. As technology advances, so will your never ending quest for an SQ vechicle. eh i dont think he wants to make a hardcore competition sq car... he just wants a "sq orientated sub" amiright? Look around in the subwoofers section and read about some of the options there, there are tons... and you also want to know the biggest amp you could run without needing a new alt? just look for a high efficency class D amp... im sure you could get away with up to 1000 rms which would be plenty if im understanding your situation

yeah about 800-1000 rms would be good. For 900 you can get a pretty good sounding car. I am sure your bro just wants it to sound good which he can do for that price.
