I have a 2000 grand am se 2.4 L. When i search i see that i have a 105 amp alternator. I wanna upgrade but a 200 amp alternator is close to 300 bucks. But i see replacement alternators for about 100 bucks. Is there any way i could just buy a replacement and run 2 of the alternators? Cuz if i can do that it would save me alot of money.

Then how do people have dual 200 amp alternators?
if you know you can do it the question becomes, "Where do i get the bracket and calculate belt length" You probably have to go to a local welder/metal worker, and get them to custom make a bracket and figuring belt length is easy and you should know how.

aight i was just wondering on this. Thanks for the info. Looks like its time to invest in a h.o alternator. Whats the most i can run on a 200 amp alternator. I'm lookin to run about 2000 watts. Or can i do more.

lets figure 40 amps for the car's electronics...

which leaves you with 160...

or more like 70 at idle.

with 75% efficient amps and .5v voltage drop (assuming a 13.8v charging system), you're looking at about 698 watts at idle, and 1596 watts with the engine reved up.

I'd plan on getting a deep cycle battery too.

Alright thanks for that info. I won't be using this while i'm sitting unless i'm just showing it to some friends. It would be my daily driver so hopefully i can get about 2000 watts or more cuz i would like to get an orion 2500 in the future.
