Alternator whine

Seem to be picking up alternator whine even when Head unit is not on and amp is not powered up or even attached to 4 guage wire. Seem to be a radiated noise into speakers, any ideas where to start? Thanks

What kind of vehicle are we talking about and what sort of gear are you running?

Looking from a logical stand point. Amp is not on or connected with power for that matter (I assume these speakers are connected to said amp) There is only one place and that is from the speaker wire (I can see speakers making noise on there own). On a long shot disconnect the speaker wire at the amp, lets totally elimnate that from the equation.
