alternator upgrade

Has anyone here put a new or upgraded alt. into a 2000-2002 honda accord. i have a 02 accord v6 and i went to a car electric place that specialises in alternators and batteries and they said that there was almost nothing that they could do except put in a new alt regulator and all new mounting brackets for aroud 1000$$. Does anyone have any knowledge of someone udgradeing their electrical in a 2002 accord?
