Alternator tru or false?

Same reason you dont want to mix different types of batts in portable electronics and shit, they can drain each other. I dont really see the use for two batteries though, unless you plan on switching to the deep cycle while the cars off ( hence the use of an isolator).

You mean two different kinds, not just two batteries, correct?

I think what he's trying to say is if you have 1 dedicated starting battery and 1+ batteries dedicated to other electronics it's a good idea to have an isolator to ensure that the starting battery doesn't get drained, leaving you SOL. That situation is more of a "if lightning strikes" kind of thing though unless you're parked for a long time with your stereo on.
