Alternator overload?? 110amp for 3000ish rms. MOAR BATTS!!?

Im in a stump here. I want to put together a beater SPL setup consisting of 4 AQ 15's and 2 Soundstream PCA2000D amps (2000@1ohm each) I wont be giving the subs all that power though, maybe 700ish each

This car is a 2001, and has a 100amp alt. I cannot find a place that carries DIRECT replacement alts for my infinity, except from excessive amperage, but hes on vacation. So I was thinking of simply adding 2 more batteries....

Right now Ive got the big 3 done, a blue top g31 and a big fat reserve truck battery under the hood. Think if I added 2 more batteries in the rear (I have to remasure if they would even fit)

I would be ok with my stock alt? I dont bang out much, listen to rock alot mostly, but i just switched to a single 15" setup and I cant take the lack of BASS lol.

So, 4 batteries for 3000ish rms with a 110amp alt. Yes No Maybe

if you're going to gain limit output that much AND you don't blast it very often I think you should be fine the way it is.

i plan on running 3k on 100a alt too.

im sure ill be fine with 2 batcap 200s, was fine with 2500 rms.

didnt even do big 3 yet.

You'll still have issues, unless you only play all out for short bursts and allow the alt time to recharge the batteries.

Well I tried a Visonik VX4000D (4000rms) on the same 4 subs and I low volted it and burned up all the fets, dunno how low it got I didnt have a volt meter at the time. I know that amp was POWER hungry, and I was idling and making a movie of the subs pounding when it cooked)

I still havent decided to just get that amp fixed, and run it only, or buy another soundstream.....

Would 2 big truck battereies make a big difference in voltage drops though on a stock alt and 3k rms?

The batteries can only help if they are good state of charge. With a 110amp alt charging 4 batteries, running the car, and trying to keep up with ~275-300A of draw from the system, well.....................

i had 5 batts ( 1 for starting) and 130 amp alt in my Deville. i am running 2 AQ 3500 and 2 Soundstream amps for the highs and my voltage never dip below 13. i did the big 3 and 4 runs. you should be ok unless your alt is already bad.

An upgraded alternator will feed the amp much better if you're playing for extended periods of time. The the draw rate is > than the supply, then obviously you're going to have issues.
