Hi everyone...I'm glad I stumbled on this forum!
I installed a stereo in my '68 Galaxie 500. It was working great when I was running it off of two 6x9 speakers. I recently acquired a power-amp, subwoofer, speakerbox...the whole nine. I'm 99.9% sure that I've hooked it up correctly. It turns on and operates when the key is turned, and turns off completely when the key is off. But when I start the engine, the speakers will continue playing music for two or three seconds and turn off.
I had a similar problem when I first got the car and I was trying to run some cheapie computer speakers using the cigarette lighter as the power source. They would play music only when I was at a complete stop...once I gave it gas they would turn off.
So I've narrowed it down to the alternator or the voltage regulator. Are there any suggestions on what I should try before I replace one or both of these parts?
Thanks in advance for your help and ideas!
