Alternator + Battery Help

Ok, so I'm planning on upgrading my 08 Lancer's stock audio soon and I've run into a bit of a problem. I never ran a system big enough to need to do much electrical work before so I need some advice from you guys.

I plan on running about an 1800 RMS system for fronts and sub. I wanted to do the big 3 in 1/0 but I didn't plan on my alternator being in the middle of my engine bay instead of near the top, surrounded by crap. It's going to be a pain in the *** to do by myself because the only moderately easy way I see to do it is to get under it with a lift.

So my question is should I just shell out the money to have a local shop do it or will my stock electrical be fine if I upgrade to a bigger battery than I already planned to in the first place. Stock alt is 100 A.

You might be fine with just the 100a alt. 1800W RMS is about the max that you should be able to run on the stock charging system, as long as it is healthy. What you should do is upgrade the stock grounds (2 parts of the big 3) and upgrade your factory battery and add another near the amps. If possible, buy two matching batteries. One for under the hood and a matching one for the rear.

My pick would be the HC1400 for both locations. I have the same batt in my Civic running about 950W RMS. I just have one since I am running about half what you are going to run.
