I have two amps (one is 800W max power, and the other is 600W max power). My old alternator had crapped out on me. My battery (which is only like a month old) got completely drained 2 times before I had a chance to change the alternator. Well since I was trying to be cheap I just purchased the cheapest stock replacement alternator. I think it was rated at 105 amps (maybe 115).
Well a couple of days ago I was messing with my system (i.e. changing the gains on the amps, messing with the equalizer, etc.) with my car parked outside this pharmacy. I had the volume on high and I did this for about 10-15 minutes or so, then I went to a nearby gym, on the way home from the gym I had just gotten on the highway and I had my AC on and I was bumping my music system when out of nowhere my car just turns off. I pull to the shoulder and I turn it back on and keep driving. Then I get to a stop-light and my car turns off again.
My questions are now I’m a little freaked out about my car turning off. I know I was dumb for having my car parked with the music pumping for more then just a couple of minutes. Do you think as long as I avoid that I'll be fine? I'm just worried because this never happened before I got my alternator changed, do you think I should change my alternator to something that is higher output? What would you guys recommend? I drive an Acura CL 3.0. Also do you think my battery getting drained so many times in the last couple of weeks could’ve caused some serious damage. It a platinum version of a generic battery line that is sold at Autozone (I think) and was like $70 dollars. Should I upgrade my battery to be on the safe side. What are my options as far as a battery is concerned and what would you recommend?
