first time makeing a buy online outside of ebay, little worried

i have never bought outside ebay online and i was wondering what kind of thigns i should do for reassurance in this deal, i've asked for referances, and a copy of his drivers liscence, what else should i get cause im sending the money to him for the amp and i dont wanna get ripped off, it's gonna be really hard for me to get my mom to use her paypal so im leaning towards a money order, is paypal safer??? what should i do?

Paypal is definantly safer.

Many transactions are done on internet forums.

The majority of people are good people just like you. Ask for their references, even contact their references.

If anything goes horribly wrong, contact paypal, your credit card company, and post it up on the forum the transaction originated from.

I would stay away from money orders.

well theres alot of things that come to play, alot of refs/vouchers, good feed back, no bad feed back, and keep in touch with the person your buying or selling, like aim, emails, cell phones, take alot of pics and vids will def work... as for ebay... im not gonna use it any more..

The mods should change this site and add a profile feedback system. Ive come over here after spending hours and hours on paintball forums, and to say the least they are basically like market places. And to facilitate a no-worry environment on one forum, the mods added this system where you can go to a persons profile and add feedback, ie positive, negative, neutral and some text. Then if people want to see your feedback all they have to do click your feedback rating under your name on all of your posts. We should get that here.

I wont pay for anything without paypal. i just got screwed out of 350 for a amp on ebay. Paid with a money order. Luckily the guy marked the auction Payment Received so i can get 175.00 back from ebay. Never got screwed buying off the forums. just check references and ask questions. by the way anyone in San diego want to take someone out for me, LOL
