I thought i would share this with some people since i do see people asking about running their power, especially heavy gauge, wires through their firewall. You can find these for just a handful of pennies at any place that sells electrical supplies, they should be near all the conduit or electrical boxs. I use these over rubber grommets because i don't like to lube up my power wire just to slip it throught the grommet, also getting the grommet into the firewall to begin with can be quite a task. The wire i'm using is 2/0 weld cable from http://www.weldingsupply.com
These are used to secure wiring into a junction box/circuit panel.
Basically the idea is to drill a hole just big enough to slip the threaded side through the firewall, then screw the retaining bezel on from the engine side of the firewall. I always use some clear silicone sealer around the bottom of the thread to ensure a watertight seal.
Then you simply run your wire through the hole, if you get the correct size fitting this will fit perfectly.
After you run the wire and get it secured to your battery, leaving your ground off the battery for now of course, you can add a small bead of silicone around the wire just to make sure you have a good tight seal. And last of all you screw in the retaining piece so that your wire can't be pulled loose from either side.
