Alt vs batteries?

ya dude you are more then good to do this allday long, like i said the only thing you risk at all is drying up the bats alittle fast, turn it down 3 blocks before your house to recharge your bats and to keep the guys next door looking at somone else's car to rob and your good
I hear that!As for the batteries they are sealed AGM so they shouldn't "dry up"But they will die.

I know u need both.
But if u had to buy one first and order the other one maybe a month later, which would u get?

mechman 250a alt.

(2) KINETIK 2400's modded to also run at 16v (if wanted).

amps being powered are a crunch 3000 pro, sax 100.4?

Need to know quick. thanks also reasoning would help.
Get the batteries. Your system will be pulling its power from the batteries not the alternator.

Think of the alternator as a compressor motor and the batteries as the air tank.

The HO alt will allow you to charge your batteries at a higher rate. Putting a 250 amp alt on 1 battery is like putting a 7hp compressor motor on a 2 gallon tank. With a 3 battery system you factory alt will do for now, after the batts are installed then go for the alternator.

As far as running a 16 volt system you have 2 choices. Invest in the batteries and a dual regulated HO alternator or keep the factory alternator and add a 2nd 16 volt stand alone alternator. Running a 16 volt daily system with no on board charging system is half assed and will just be a waste of good batteries.

I was waiting to see if you would step in.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The ECU is the thing that keeps me from being able to upgrade the alty. Anyone know anyways to get around the ECU or whatever??? any advise?
step down unit i know some of the kinetics have a 12v post and 16 volt post. you hook up the 16 v to alt and then the 12 to car

Bought the 2 kinetik 2400's guys! i cant wait to get them and finally hook all this shyt up, hopefully i can find someone in the area that wouldnt mind doing a full install, im talking everything, but i do have everything and decent gear at that.

All i need now is a sax-100.4 but i have a saz-1500d to trade for it so hopefully it shouldnt be too hard to get. although im debating just waiting until the new version comes out in late NOV.

fuk i dont know what to do... i can change the car battery to a kinetic hc 800 and try that out to see how it works. right now i am running 1600 watts rms. i want to upgrade to 2500-3k system but i am almost certain i will see a melt down since the alty is maxed out right now.

its easy to tell right now that the alty is maxed to its limit. i mean i can go to a 2500-3000w rms system but i will have to turn the radio down every song to let the bat recharge..... fuk... yes its a daily driver... i just like to go deaf... i keep claiming i am an SQ guy but each year i wake up one morning and say... this shyt just doesnt bump enough for me anymore.

**** that was fast! You'll be happy with those kinitik's.
yeah I dont make pointless threads of hypothetical situations. I was in need of quick detailed answers and u guys gave me just that. thanks again and im hoping these things are as good as everyone says.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D

yeah, you wasn't playing.

isnt almost impossible to explain to someone who isnt into caraudio how u can spend $450 on batteries? they give u the:wow: look.

If you are not voltage limited by your class, just run the 12 volt batteries, and an adjustable voltage alt set at 15.0V (at full temperature) You won't bother the ECM at all, it keeps things simple, and makes amplifiers happy.

BTW, to take advantage of all the cells in a 12V to 16V conversion, you would need 4 batteries. running two, you would only be taking advantage of 2 cells in one of the 2 Kinetik batteries, so it would really only be like having one 16V kinetik 2400, FYI.
