Alt vs batteries?

so say I did pick up the kinetiks now, (they) can run at 16v with the way he has them setup, hence why he wants to sell them in pairs, however i dont plan to run 16v.

I would have no way to charge them to 16v so it would be basically pointless for me unless i ever went to compete and ran them by themselves in parallel to the amp for 16v burps right?

so the setup would be the 2 2400's in the trunk wired to the front battery holding whatever voltage the alt gave them, im guessing 14.1-14.4, and that would be my daily setup.

I would just pick up one of the 2400's and then get the alt after but he wants to sell them as pairs hence my little problem.

So ultimatley should i go for the HO alt and big three first, or the 2 kinetiks ran off the stock alt then get the ho when i get the cash? which would be a few weeks later.

BTW the stock alt is 115A.

I wasn't offended just trying to figure out what you ment?As for CC knowing ANYTHING....HAHAHA.As i said before the factory alt will o fine in charging all three batteries.Would he benefit from an HO yes.But IMO the batteries are the better way to go.Cheaper, and less hassle.

My jeep is also ECU controlled. But I have never had a spike.Vehicles can take short spikes but all are different.I have seen guys pull up and crank there voltage to 17v for a short burp and have no effect on the car. Then I have seen them fry the ECU cause of a slight over voltage. It can go either way but I would error on the side of caution and not go above 15v.
well the type e's are shytty also, idk, scarred the shyt outta me tho.

I know that the ECU's dont immediately respond so the only thing i can think of is i had a major drop in the subs (plus maybe something else, lights ect... and then while the subs werent running it caused a super bump in voltage. IT WAS QUICK AS HELL TO. happened over a 5-10 second period. (i will also driving while this happened so plenty of RPMS to alty)

as far as pricing goes the alt or 2 kinetiks shipped run pretty close in pricing, those **** kinetiks are heavy little mofos. So i want teh most bang for the buck early on.

Correct they would be charging off the alt along with your factory battery. As for 16v you would only get one battery with the two modded ones.

I say bang for the buck go with the batteries. They will supply you with the power you want with the least amount of work.IMO

if u could afford the alternator I say get it, but there's an excuse for everything. Batteries are just as good. In my case I needed a quick fix plus I only paid 30 bucks. also alot of people plan on getting new cars or something. Personally if it ain't over 2k and you have a good battery and the big 3 I don't think you need one. But every amp draws different.

honestly i dont even really care about ever running 16v just want the solid 14's, so how long (of course estimated) could 2 2400's support the 3kw with the factory 115a before they got drained to the point they were out of reserve and running off of New alt power on music? could i last a whole song 2 songs? more? i just have no idea.

By new alt power i mean the stock alts power it would be putting into the batteries at the moment. its hard to write that.

LMK if u dont understand what i mean.

of course i understand i would have to let them recharge (turn it down for a while) after doing that.

with both of those bats in the back man id say your good with the 115a alt. aslong as you dont go all out thro some 10 hour road trip(may end up drying up coils in bats tho)

What do you mean its stopping you?Are you talking low voltage?
The fukin thing sets on fire when you put a higher out put alty in there.

i met 3 guys with the same model did it and they all did the same thing. I heard of it happening to 2 guys and then i met a 3rd guying saying they wired it wrong, so i kept his info and added him to my buddy list. I shot him an email 3 months later and he said "2 weeks ago my alty started smokin!".

god **** that blows man, glad i have not ran across this prob yet

The batteries are in a constant state of recharge when connected to the alt.As far as how long they would last.Kinitiks are known to be good bass race batteries with a high Reserve capacity. So I would say you would be pretty safe if your crusing around. If your just sitting with the car off then you may be limited to a few hours before needing to start the car.
