alt rewiding

Does anyone in Indiana know of anywhere that can rewind alts to put out more power? i really dont have the $$ to get a h/o alt.
That's like lacing up your combat boots with silly string..

Do l like the guy said above me, invest in a quality one, the first time..

getting stock alternators rewound to put out a higher amperage is not a smart idea.

it isnt worht it man trust me, i did it and i regretting it. My alt will die somtime soon. Plus the ****er didnt increase my idle amerage like he said he was. So save your money and buy a good alt dont go cheap like me, and suffer for it:crap:

my car is a 93 cutlass ciera.. its got a 105 stock, but it died on me.. and ended up with me losing all my car audio stuff. Now that ive gotten my system redone, not installed yet, but sitting in my room, and much better equipment, i would like for my alt to not die. Also if you could find a good alt for under 250.. then let me know. my car has a 3.3 v6 if you wanna try to find one.

You guys know some really sorry rewinders then.

Mine was rewound by a buddy who has been in the alternator/starter/auto electrical business for most of his life (shop where he works is owned by his father) and has been going strong with no signs of failing for over two years now.

Lacing up your combat boots with silly string? Pffft....

I went from a 75a output maximum to 165a amp maximum for $150 including removal and replacement of the alternator off of then back onto my car.

No HO alternator company in existence is gonna do that for me anywhere near that price, tyvm.

my uncle is a auto tech for the lexus dealership and he knows a few shops here that does amazing professional rewinding on altenators with warranty. it will run me around $60-$100 with my uncles discount //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

im excited!

What's with uncles and alternators?

Mine owns Hite Parts (hiteparts.com) [Columbus, Ohio] - they remanufacture / rebuild all manner of shit like that, especially alternators. Said I could get mine wound up no problem. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

He has the discount & hookup!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

meaning i wont need to spend an extra $300 for a HO alt.

lets see...rewidinding a stock alternator....

adding more stators in the stock casing = eh

it's going to create more heat and in the small casing it wont be able to dissapate the heat to well.

I understand your concerns, truly I do. maybe it makes a difference where your alternator mounts on your motor whether or not you can have good results.

Mine was rewound in my stock case and like I posted previously....over two years later it is still going strong with no signs of an early demise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

A manufacturer / remanufacturer sholdn't have any trouble recasing it for you. There's a steel drum full of alt casings behind the place, should've grabbed a pic. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
