I've got a 1991 toyota corolla with a new non-deep cell battery and a stock alternator that's pushing out about 70~80 amps. Soon, i'm gonna be running an amp that's capable of putting out up to 2500watts with 2awg or 1/0awg to it from the battery.

I was wondering how much amps should I look at when looking for a new alt that'll handle this power better? I will have the big 3 done by the end of the week, also, if that information helps, but my battery won't be upgraded for another 2 weeks.

if its a quality amp it should do 1200 rms a good 90-120 stocker should get you by. better performance would be achieved via 130-180 amp alt. you can even check with a local auto electrical shop to see how "big" they can rebuild your alt to. just depends on what the user wants to call "good performance" if it works and dimms its ok with some folks other folks dont want any type of dimming....

if its all being run into 4 ohm its 700 watts should be fine as is with a healthy front battery
Yea I've been running up to 1000 watts @ 2ohm on all stock electronics for at least 2 years now so I know what it can handle, as is. But i'll be planning having 1-2 subs taking in up to .5ohm loads.

What comes first anyway, in terms of upgrade priority: the battery or alt?
