I see most people look for 200 amp plus alternators, but also that most are running modern vehicles with electric fuel pumps, fans, power windows, etc. etc.
I'm thinking of upgrading my alt to a 140 amp GM unit from a '94 Camaro. Looks like it will bolt in with minor modifications.
Since the vehicle in question is a 1984 Dodge truck, there is NO electrical load to speak of. I mean, headlights, tail lights, etc. sure, but fully manual windows, no electric motors other than heater fan.
My long term plan is about 1500 watts, but lets say 2000 to add in an upgrade margin. Right now, I'm probably pushign 750 wrms total.
At what point will the 140 amp unit not be sufficient considering the needs of my vehicle?
