alt help

Does anyone know how to piggyback alternators. I'm going to buy a stock alternator for a vehicle that has high amperage and put it in place of my a/c compressor and some how hook it to my stock alt. Aftermarkets are to expessive. does anybody know how to do this.

the money you spend and time to fabricate a bracket to mount a second alt, you might as well buy an ho alt. they can be had for like $300

My buddy owned his own mechanical and transmission shop for like 20 years, he will build me a bracket for next to nothing.

i'm gonna take a stab at this but if this second alt is just for your stereo then i would imagine you can just add a second battery in the back and have the second alt charge that battery and hook your system to that battery.

actually I have 2 extra batteries in the back and I wanted an extra alt to work with my stock alt.

bad idea. Use one alt for your original stock equipment and use the second for the system.
