Alright heres the deal... i bought a brand new battery 4 months ago well the other day it died on me... so i'm hmmm so i got my oil changed and got my alternator checked they said it was only putting out about 12v they said it was bad so im like alright so i get a new one got it put on and now the negative terminal of battery reads only 13v repair guy said i should just get a new terminal sense it only reads 13v on terminal and not on the ground itself... so im like alright but after reading more and more... apparently while im having this problem is because i'm running a 1000 watt amp on this alt and its killing it? i was told to upgrade my alt so i don't have this problem.. but it seems to much work just so i can run a 15 inch sub... i rather just take the amp and sub out if thats the case...

cliffs:

battery dies every 4 months

is it because of the amp

take it out and sell and buy rims

what to do

do the big three and get a better battery and run 0 gauge power wire and ground wire if not already done so kind of sums up this entire thread. All your problems should go away after this.

What kind of vehicle is this?
Size of Alt?

1000 rms or peak watts?
Ford Explorer... and its a 1000 peak amp running 500watts to 15 inch sub which is a 600 rms sub

and im not sure about the alt its the regular alt that they sell at o rileys it was 139 new

running 0 gauge amp kit right now... and i just spent almost 100 bucks on a new battery that died and got another one under warranty

Provided your battery and Alt are working fine, you don't need to upgrade crap to run what you've stated.

I don't fully understand what you're saying about the tests they performed (battery sitting at 13v? That sounds fine for the battery). Kinda sounds like whoever tested your stuff may not know what they're doing.

Honestly you may have just gotten a bad replacement battery 4 months ago, and then that shit battery killed your alternator. So if you've gotten a new alternator and battery and everything is running fine now, what's the problem? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
