Alpine's GlideTouch is Gone!

Thank god. I tried the GlideTouch with a 9855 earlier this year and thought it was at best, a novelty feature and that Alpine should abandon it with future models. Looks like they returned to tactile buttons for their 2006 (non F1) flagship models. This months CAE magazine shows pics of the CDA-9856 (non-Biolite) and CDA-9857 (with Biolite) with the updated look. Hopefully they also improved performance as well. I'll try to take some pics at CES.

i guess i don't mind it much. i don't really use the deck that often, mostly the remote. it's not really a make or break feature for me. if i were looking for a new deck again i probably wouldn't not buy one because it had it. not that i'm going to be buying a new deck any time soon. i'm pretty happy with the 9855.

r u sure?

Only Alpine that I know of off-hand that will still feature the GlideTouch is the DVA-9965. There's about 2 people in the Western Hemisphere that own that HU.

GlideTouch is gone. Good riddance. Piss-poor ergonomics -- impossible to use when driving at speeds of over 10 MPH.

Most the people that bitch about it never even owned the 55.

80% of the people i talk to that have used it in their car daily either don't mind it, or enjoy it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
