i just bought a Alpine CDE-100 with no mounting sleeve.......are they all pretty much the same sleeve or are some different?

as long as its an alpine sleeve from the same generation of units, any single-DIN sleeve should work.

If you're lucky, previous generations sleeves may work as well as long as they have the same unit-locking mechanism/key

All alpine mounting cages are the same from the 7 series and up. so you got alot of options. Other brand CD player mounting cages will not work.

Trim rings are pretty universal from all alpine single din decks.
