Dead Head - no internal amplifier to power speakers with. You need to buy other amps to make any sound come out. By not having the internal amp, the head unit is more focused on sound quality and ways for you to mess with different settings to make the sound how you want it. Most dead heads are considered competition level head units, so you know that they have got to be good.

Well I got it and mp3 playback is cool, but I can't tell much of a difference soundwise. Maybe when I get some new speakers (Infinity Perfect Components). But I'm thinking about selling my new deck and getting an Alpine 7998.
