I'd say it's an excellent h/u for the money. Alpine sare about the best. I'm looking to get a cda7894 h/u in the near future, gotta love those mp3's

yes, that's an excellent choice for an entry-level deck

and allow at least 1 day before you start *****ing that no one has replied to your thread

Depends exactly what you mean good deck for the money... and what you're looking for i feel. It would not be a great deck if you plan to do various upgrades to it such as amps and subs etc....... it only has 1 preout, making full control of individual speakers limited.

If its just for your sister and if she doesn't plan on upgrading and adding subs or amps etc... yes, its a very good entry level Deck. As it is alpine, its quality will be as always excellent and reliable, 45Wx4 would give a good set of speakers plenty of power. And it has a detachable face!! what more could a girl ask for?

Hey MoparMan, Ive got a CDA7894RB, and cos im from australia they released it in a blue (the blue looks much cooler) as opposed to the Green that they have in north america. It is an excellent deck, only bummer is that CD Text and MP3 ID3 tags scroll across to slowly!! *lol*

the 7894RB cost $1000 AUS here.

Thats about $500 your US$... i think...... a currency calc just showed me $553 US.... so yeah..... i think its cheaper over there in the states isn't it??? it says $450 on the website. but thats without tax isn't it??? see ours is With Tax.... so it works out about similar, we pay about a 10% tax on stuff...........

I had a sony Xplod head unit before this, and the good thing about that one was that i could put in and take out CD's while the car is not on. And the text scrolled through at a good speed. Have you noticed with these alpine decks, theres no freakin time??? whats up with that?? or is it just me?

Actually, it's quite a bit more spendy down there. $450 is the MSRP, I can get it locally for $350+tax which comes to about $370. You can find it online here for around $300-$325, but I would prefer to buy it locally for the warranty and service.

I was thinking about this yesterday while I was running the combine and I was thinkin if I really wanted one I could somehow just get the faceplate from the Ausie 7894 through a parts source. Might cost more than it's worth though... especially shipping.

Then again I might be able to just use the faceplate from a 7995.

The Alpine units DO have time on them, just hit the TITLE button, it sais CLK right above it

I click title alot, and ive never seen the CLK function......... is it an actual BUTTON on the deck?? i dont see it....... or is it a function that comes on the LED screen??? cos i still dont see it either, ive pressed title MANY times..... or am i sposed to hold it down??

and yes.... it would get quite a bit expensive if you do it that way..... from what ive heard faces cost nearly as much as the stereo.... (to deter car theft)

Does yours even say CLK right above the TITLE button on the Aussie version??

It does on the American one, and I'm just going off of the pic, I'll have to stop by the store and play with it some more when I get a chance.

Here's what the american one looks like, take not of where is sais CLK right above the TITLE button...

I just checked my dl'd 7894 manual and here's how it sais to get the time:

Press the CLK button repeatedly until the time is displayed.

Each press changes the modes as follows"

Radio mode

Radio frequency---->Clock priority mode---->DISC TEXT mode--->

Playing time mode---->Clock priority mode---->DISC TEXT mode---->TITLE mode---->TRACK TEXT mode

 

I was just looking at Alpine's Australia site and aside from the fact they there is different models than we have on there, there is no CLK label above the TITLE button
