What do you mean? Alpine tech support told me it has an optical output.
As soon as I sell my W205, I'm buying this unit.

It does have optical output, but requires a new cable that has a 4-pin connection on one end (for the w505) and toslink on the other (for the h701).

Cable is kwe-610a, IIRC.

EDIT: Yep, I just spoke with them again. KWE-601a. They will be around $100 and they "should" be available next month. What a crock!

One more thing - does the PAC-TR7 work with this unit? I know Alpine is very intent on defeating video (and some other on-screen features) while driving.

I just Installed the IVA-W505 in my Expedition. I used the PAC SWI-JACK to keep my steering wheel controls. It works great ( just a little delay compared to stock radio). I am trying to use the PAC TR-7 to bypass the Parking brake routine. I wired it according to PAC website. Its also programmed to the correct feture. Can anyone tell me why its not working. I have a brand new Head unit that I haven't seen play a DVD Yet! and I can't set the clock either (this also requires the vehicle to be parked)!?!?

If you haven't already, I would recheck your programming. The TR-7 comes from the factory with the Alpine bypass scheme, so an initial programming should not have been necessary. That said, you may have undone the factory settings when you installed the unit.
