Alpine VS Sundown

Hey all,
I am on the verge of nabbing a used sundown at a pretty good price.

However, reading recent posts says that the Alpine PDX line is awesome and very clean.

So which amp is better?

Sundown 100.2 or PDX 150.2

I will be running ID CTX65CS in my front doors.

The PDX is more expensive and smaller, which what I really need! (11x14 or less) while the Sundown is cheaper and barely fits (13.3x9.9).

So which amp would be better for my IDs in terms of sound quality and loudness? I believe they'll be wired at two ohms if I'm right? (2xmids, tweet to 2 channel) So that boosts the performance of both amps a bit.

EDIT: Another thing of notice, either one will be next to a mono amp (Alpine M1005) in a hideaway compartment in the back of my truck. So how do the amps handle heat?
Basically what it comes down to is your install. Both are very high quality amps. However I only have personal experience with the PDX.

Both are going to power your speakers relatively the same and I doubt you will have any audible difference between the amps. So in your case I ask you... would you rather have more room to do a cleaner install or do you need more flexibility in your crossovers? (the sundown has very nice crossovers on it). Also if you are already considering the PDX monoblocks for your subs then keep in mind that all PDX amps are identicle in size and stack.

Reviews say that the PDX run pretty **** hot but no matter how much torture they are put through they never quit.

Another thing to consider is which will get you better support? me personally there are no sundown delears anywhere near me while there is a Alpine delear within walking distance of where I live. Thus Alpine is a better choice in that regard (for me).

EDIT: Misread your comment about sub amp... but the above still stands =D

Also the Alpine puts out the same power @ 2ohm or 4ohm.

Show me one place proving that a Sundown 2.100 puts out more wrms then a Alpine PDX2.150.
Sundown are underrated, but not that much.
i agree. the alpine will still put out more power. the only thing that would sway me either way would be the price, and space in the vehicle.

if space was an issue, i would go alpine.

all other cases, sundown (i own a 100.4)

even if space was an issue, id somehow make the sundown fit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

my vote goes for Sundown but thats only cause its what I got. I have no experience with the Alpine units, they are tiny though. The sundowns are nice and do appear to handle heat quite well.

thanks everyone! I scored a slightly used sundown 100.2 for $175 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Can't wait to get my hands on this baby!

I forgot to mention the big problems with the sundown 100.2
