Alpine vs Kicker amps

So for my setup I am wondering what would be better;

500 watt alpine amp (160$) or 750watt kicker amp (273$)

keep in mind it is powering a 12" alpine type r.

And what is the average price for a ported enclosure for a 12" type r?

considering the alpine is a lot cheaper i would say get that. leaves you money to do other things with system. I'm assuming your going to buy a prefab box so it can go towards that

Someone offered to make me a custom ported box but its 130$ shipped.. little expensive it seems?

Kicker amps are just so dang ugly to me. I'd go with Alpine, I've had two 4-channel amps from them and they were both very reliable. At almost $300, you could do better than the Kicker. I bet you could pick up a used Sundown for that price.
