Alpine SWR-1542D and JL 1000/1 V2

I just need some one to point me in the right direction.

The sub is Dual Voice Coil@4ohms(750rms-2000w max), and needed to know the best way to configure the sub for the amp.

Then after that, what nobles and/or switches should I tweak on the JL 1000/1 v2 amp to best suit my sub?

The sub is seating in a 1.75 cubic feet box.I could go ported at 2.9 cubic feet, if that would make a big difference with bass/lows. These are Alpine suggestions.

Just a bonus question: How would one go about building a box tuned to a certain Frequency.

Any kind of help would be great! Thank you.

There's only 2 ways to wire the sub. 2 ohm or 8 ohm. Pos to pos and neg to neg will give you a 2 ohm load on the amp. Is 2.9 cu. ft. the maximum room you have? I'd go 3.5 tuned at 32-34 if I was going to run a Type R 15. As far as building a box you're knowledge would probably lend itself to getting a set of plans from one of the box builders on here. For example @pro-rabbit could help you out for relatively cheap. Do you already own the JL amp?

Yes, I already own both, payed $200 for sub and amp together. On the size of the box, it's what alpine recommends, 1.75 sealed, and 2.9 ported. If you think a bigger box will give more bass/lows I'm willing to give it a try. FYI, it's in a van, so space is not a problem.

On the JL amp, theres mad knobs and switches, I dont know where to start. Any help there would be great, thank you.

Edit: Infrasonic Filter: on/off?

Infrasonic Freg.(Hz): 15-60?

Bass EQ: on/off?

"Q": 0.5-4.3?

Center Freq.:20-80?

Boost(dB):0-15?

Mode|Slope:eek:ff/12dB/24dB?

Filter Freq.(Hz):40-200?

Input Voltage:low/high?

input Sens:?

Output Polarity: Normal/Reversed?

Any help please.

my bet is ppl dont want to have to explain everything to you. Do some research and you can learn basically how to tune the amp once you get everything built. go with the larger box if you really want to hit the lows. hit up the enclosure section to get help with the box construction.

I would go with a smaller box because that amp is a mad powerfull 1k amp does waay more than rated biiger boxes are needed for under power situations not high power I would go with advised ported size then power handling will be better btw nice deal those amps sell used for 350 plus all day

Just cause the amp can put out a lot of power doesn't mean you have to max it out. Personally I would go with a larger box so you have the low end and then just tune your amp from there. Unless you're competing and you NEED to get every watt out of your amp then by all means make the box smaller, but for a daily setup you don't want a small box...it can be too peaky, not have good extension on the lows and an overall undesirable sound
