Alpine Rs Vs Alpine Xs (6.5)

By **** your ears, I think he means be in musical bliss, or something similar to that.

I've only heard the Rs on soundboards so I can't comment much on those, but I ran the Type X's (04 model) for over a year and was simply amazed at their quality, both build and sound wise. IMO for the 220 or so you can get them for I don't think you can find a better set of components.

for 5 bux more you can rainbow slc for 6spdcoupe, but the type x's sound a WHOLE lot better than the type r's. More midbass and much smoother tweet, very nice set IMO

I had the rainbows SLC, they were alright. Build quility on them felt rather cheap and their crossover was cheap as hell. It always came apart for some reason. They actually started to smoke a lot in my doors to the point the almost caught fire lol, that was only 120 watts, not ever really pushed them because they could not handle it.

Im venturing down the alpine road as I will be doing an all alpine setup, except for the avic-z1...Also going to add the type-x midbass kit. It should sound pretty decent.

^^^Wow thats interesting...could it be a lemon or bad installation. This is the first time (I think) I have seen a sisapointed Rainbow owner...Unless im not looking hard enough....

Nope in fact I was curious also why they just fried out of no where. I searched around other forums I believe Elite and found that other people had some of the same problems. Even locally here I met up with someone and his crossovers were falling apart just like mine did. Crazy, but ohwell.

im VERY dissapointed with the midbass on the Type R comps..i checked them out on a soundboard and the 6.5 Type R Coaxials had atleast twice the bass that the components had... The coaxials barely moved but were pounding where as the components midbass was wangin but you couldent even hear anything, it was just movement but no sound produced, it was retarded

^^^Sounds more like an installation problem to me....or difference in vehicles...How were they mounted? What kind of deadtning was used? That seems to be very surprising and wierd if all the variables were the same, same vehicle and all...

mounted in the stock door location, ED sound deadeing around the speakers, nothing out of the ordinary. Ive installed hundreds of systems, trust me, I went over everything!

Iv run the Type X for a bit.. liked them much..

They are smooth & have good detail..

everytime I upgraded somthing amps,HU.

I could hear more & more.. Myles Davis never sounded so good..

Though you should realy mount the xovers cuz if your in a bad crash they just come apart..lol maybe it was the smashing off the dash that busted themm.. I dont know..

Anyway if thats the 2 your choising from Type X all the way.. & like someone else said.. you can find them for like $215-220

so Enjoy..

Peace Troy
