alpine pxa-h701 questions

OK! Im far from new to the car audio game and i figured out how to work this unit fairly easy, but i cant get the time correct to work all it does it make a pop that i know it's supposed to be picked up by the mic.After the tone makes its rounds the controll says ERROR. The mic is not in the place that the manual says, its on the a-piller. So eney help...thanks.. Oh! when its working will it sound better even if it has allready been tuned by ear?????

You seem pretty new to the audio game...

Try reading the time alignment thread I got going a few thread below..

That can be a very complex unit if you dont know what you are doing..are you new to all of this?

If so i might suggest getting someone who has done it this before and get their help.

With a processor like that you can make you system sound very good or very bad, unfortunately your on the way to the second. Read his thread about time alignment for sure.

So many wasted h701s out there. People won't don't know how to use their h701 should just sell it and get the imprint, or the h650

dam! Its one of those fourms were a guy ask's a question and then people tell him to sell his stuff cause thay think there new. I have been doing spl for 15 years in texas but new to the SQ game yes, but i have plenty of time tuneing by ear with old type prossers.What happend is i just put the mic in the a-piller driver side and when a hit the t-correct button and it counts down from 10 to 1 after its done it says error!! Its hooked up properly but just had it for 2 days. Eney suggestions? And i dont care to here from the geeek squad just a real car guy!!

don't use auto t/a. It has never worked well for me.

My suggestion is to use the equation alpine provides to get you in the ballpark. Then, tune by ear. measure from dead in front of your nose as this seems to work the best, in my experience.

The reason you're getting 'Error' (from the manual, I might add):

If the microphone does not pick up the

sound or the speakers are not working or are

connected or wired improperly, the automatic

adjustments are not performed and a error

message is displayed.

Check the various speakers then perform

the automatic adjustments again.
