Alpine or JL?

Laugh all you want, but with my back turned to the soundboard, I could pick the PDX 4.150 out every time it was selected yet I couldn't tell the difference between a JL Audio or Arc Audio amp that was in the same soundboard powering the same set of speakers. Explain that one!

Making matters worse, I've been able to pick out the full range PDX amp in a couple of other vehicles without knowing beforehand what amplifiers were installed.

Crazy, maybe, but something just isn't right about their sound.

They've measured a bit screwey too. It was a long time ago when they first came out. He's really not joking. They are nice and small but they do sound a bit off sometimes. I'd have no issues running them on subs but mids and highs no thanks.

Read around on the forums and you'll find several people observing the same thing. My tweeters always had a small hiss when I used my PDX.

How would you feel if Pimp My Ride was still on and using all the forum boner products that get ca.com in an uproar? Just think if GAS or WCC was installing Sundown, AudioQue, Hifonics, etc. Oh, my bad, Hifonics was used on Pimp My Ride and I have seen PLENTY of installs on this forum using Hifonics amplifiers.

I don't pay attention to who uses what where, but you have to admit when someone says "I wanna run some Alpine/JL/Kicker/MTX" your first inclination is that they didn't consider a whole lot of alternative brands. I'm even a great example. I've got a sort of natural bias toward Kicker just because I know the brand.

To be honest if I saw Xzibit throwing some friggin' Nightshades into some kid's Ford Escape I'd climb into my TV and give him a few hundred high fives.
