hey, i've been researching a lot about these amps... i want to know which one would be better... I'm planning to run a couple of 10's (probably Type R's or Infinity Kappa Perfect, not decided yet)... which one would be better for me?

-Alpine MRV-1507

RMS Continuous Power (at 12.0V 20-20kHz):

2 x 150W @ 4 Ohms (0.08% THD)

2 x 300W @ 2 Ohms (0.3% THD)

1 x 600W @ 4 Ohm Bridged (0.3% THD)

RMS Continuous Power (at 14.4V 20-20kHz):

2 x 225W @ 4 Ohms (0.08% THD)

2 x 450W @ 2 Ohms (0.3% THD)

1 x 900W @ 4 Ohm Bridged (0.3% THD)

which amp is stronger output? which amp has cleaner output? i dont have experience with Eclipse amps, but how are they rated??? are they underrated as the alpines are? are they solid built, or what?

I haven't used the Alpine, but I owned, and absolutely loved, the Eclipse 34230. Extremely solid, well built amplifier. One of the best Eclipse has ever produced as far as I'm concerned.

The Eclipse is underrated, though not greatly. Outputs about 390w per channel. So the Eclipse can output just over 100w more per channel at 4ohms.

However, the real downfall of the Eclipse is in it's lack of flexibility. It is not stable below 4ohms per channel, and is not bridgeable. Those are not exaggerations either. You WILL damage the amplifier by attempting to bridge it or run it much below 4ohms per channel.

If bridging, or the ability to run 2ohms/channel is something you desire, the Eclipse is not the amplifier for you.

They both have adequately "clean" outputs, nothing that would make an audible difference.

Just an FYI aswell, CarSound tested that Alpine amplifier a few years ago:

i can get the Eclipse for cheaper than the 1507 hehe... thats why im asking too...

but why cant i run the Eclipse at 2ohms? does it really outputs 1100w rms (550w rms?)... i cant seem to find if this is RMS or MAX... Eclipse site doesnt seem to have older products support aswell...

and yes, i know it's not bridgeable, but that's not a big deal...

oh, and just for my information, what are the dimensions of the Eclipse amplifier?

edit: oh shit, just read the picture i posted... it tells me different specs that i was reading elsewhere (wtf?)

Eclipse 34230

550W x 2 Channel Power Output at 2 ohms Stereo

370W x 2 Channel 0.1% THD at 4 ohms Stereo, 20-20,000Hz at 13.8V (RMS Continuous Power)

those were the specs given to me... and i was said the 550w are RMS too... where can i find an official version for these specs? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Despite the limitations, the 34230 is a bad *** amp.

It's dimensions are 18.8x11.85x2.05

You CAN'T run it at 2 ohms in any way, shape or form. It puts out over 1100 watts TOTAL = 550 watts rms x 2 into a 4 ohm load. Best case scenario would be to run two dual 2 ohm subs wired in series to present each channel a 4 ohm load. Also an awesome amp to run a set of power hungary components like a set of Bostons or Dyn's.

The 1507 is sexy as hell...I was going to get one. They pop up all the time on ebay....one of the bests amps Alpine has ever made IMO, if not THE best.
X2. I owned the alpine 1507. One of the best amps i ever owned in my life. Solid amp that beat the sh!t out of my Type S/R. you can't go wrong with the 1507, like said earlier, one of the best amps Alpine has made. I would pick the V12 MRV series than their MRD series anyday. I was told that these amps were underrated, but i never seen proof. Anymore questions on that amp, you can PM me.

I've probably said this a hundred times on here already....but that's what I had my 34230 running...a Boston Pro6.5 comp set //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif Loved it.....

Anyways, as was mentioned...the 550w x 2 spec is max power. And you absolutely can not run it at 2ohms per channel. Why not? Because of how the amplifier was designed.

x3. Still own mine. A friend wants me to sell it to him. When i told him i wanted 200 for it he shat himself... hes like "dude, thats what you PAID for it! and you run that thing like u run ur car!"

The moral of the story is, its a badass amp. Ive owned it for 2 years, and hasnt shut down on me ONCE... wangs my subs really well... and despite its inability to go below 4 ohms in bridged... i love it and probably wont get rid of it. Actually im gonna contact alpine soon and see about getting replacement parts for it... so i can fix it when i test to see if it likes 2 or 1 ohm loads... hehe... firt im gonna test it in 2 ch mode, then in bridged.... wish me luck on THAT one...
