Alpine MRD-M501

Anyone with this amp or a similar one have any feedback for me before I order? I'm using it to power an Alpine type r 12"

they are quality amps...put out what they claim..but cost quite a bit for what they are..but i do beleive that amp would suit the r's needs

how much is it gonna cost you for the alpine? if you are spendning over 300 then you should consider the jl audio 500/1. I just bought a brand new one last week and recieved it yesterday. I only have the gain at 1/4 and it hits pretty nicely and sounds very good. best amp I've had for SQ. I've used a rockford punch dsm, and a tantrum 1200.1. I bought it on ebay brand new for 350.

I think that those are a pretty good buy plus they look great IMO and are a high quality product. The JL 500/1 is great as well but a little bit more expensive. This site has good pricing.

Any suggestions on a cheaper one? I would have been paying around $250 for it on ebay.

The 501 is a great amp, especially if you have an Alpine deck with the amplifier control link.

Then go with the 301. That will give you 350w into a 2 ohm load, which would be perfect for one type r.

EDIT: Though the 501 will give you some room to upgrade later if you figure you want to buy another one.
