Alpine MRD-1005D shutting down

I have an alpine MRD-1005D amp running a single type x and if I run it with the car off and sometimes with the car on the amp will cut off and flash CUR if I turn it up a little loud. I was wondering what the problem might be? I don't have a manual so I'm not 100% sure what this is. I was running a pair compvr's before and it did it more often but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the problem. any help would be great. thanks.

Probably voltage drop. Not sure what kind of electrical mods you've done but if you are experiencing it with the car off, the alternator isn't charging the system, so you are drawing all the current off your battery or whatever setup you have, and eventually the voltage will drop to a point where the amp is power starved, so rather than operate at subpar levels, it shuts off to protect itself. If you watch the voltage meter on the amp, it will probably shut off once it gets down around 11 Volts, maybe a bit lower. I have the exact same setup (M1005 and Type X 10) and have never had that problem. If it never does it with the car on, that is more than likely your problem.
