alpine missed expectations

hi everyone, just switched from clarion that i was using for 10years to an alpine CDE9871R and it reproduces TOO much bass.. I have Infinity Kappa so I'm used to that soft bass in the gut. Spent the whole day tweaking the crossovers on the amp but I'm still not satisfied with the sound. I listen to rap.. a lot and I don't want to believe that alpine can't handle it. Any ideas? peace

So you are complaining because the Alpine deck reproduced more output in your INFINITY MIDBASS?

The Alpine is just playing what was already there and the Clarion was not playing. RAP is all about bass 90% of the time, stop complaining or change music genre's.

Also that is a lower level Alpine deck, if you want better pony up the bucks big daddy!

How can you have too much bass if you listen to rap? Isn't that what rap is all about?

Because it can make it sound even more out of balance and even shittier.

If you want TOTL, you have to get TOTL. Perhaps your clarion just sucked. My bet is you have something turned on that you shouldn't... Media Expander maybe?

You're answer to everyone is "get a eclipse." Are you an Eclipse salesman? There are other very capable HU's out there besides Eclipse.

Turn off media expander, hit the big knob and lower the subwoofer level to 0.

It could, however I don't think that'll solve his problem. I think he was affected by the terrible sound coupling kappa's with a sub-par clarion deck. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Worst case, raise the HPF to 120.

Yes I guess I was deeply affected by the clarion deck, however I've partially solved the problem with the HPF set up to 80. Thanks nismos!

And yeah rap isn't all about bass although it's his main ingredient.. but then again I cannot ask for everyone's refined taste of sound
