Alpine ktp-445u?

Is the Alpine ktp-445u power pack really universal? ...it will plug into my Kenwood head unit?

Are factory car speaker wires able to handle the upgraded power, or should I run new wires to the speakers when installing it?

Do any other brands make small "plug in" amps like this one that are better?

It will not plug into any head unit. You have to make the connections like installing a regular amplifier, because that's what it is. Clarion XC1410 is very similar to that amplifier. With either one you should run a 10 awg wire to the battery for constant power, and make a new ground to bare metal. You can use the factory speaker wires.

it will plug into any head unit as long as you wire the radio harness to the unit like the alpine harness is attached. i have installed about 100 of them and they are not that bad as far as installing. just like wiring in a radio to the factory harness. it is a power pack not a regular amplifier. you do not need to run a big power wire to the battery and in most cases it will fit behind or below the dash. just hook it up to the existing wires for better/powerful sound.
