hi guys,

this is my first thread well except my f/s ad for a rockford fosgate peq.

well anyway i have a custom/lowered 88' s10 blazer, 2-door.

im in the process of getting my system upgraded and setup.

i have...

ALPINE CDA-7894 ( i love this radio ) (( 40rmsx4 or 4v rca outputs, 3sets of outputs.

ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH P5002 ( 600rms-1 bridged.

Para-Punch Bass remote EQ with variable 35-70Hz frequency and 0dB to +18dB bass boost.

KICKER 12" PORTED BOX ( right now i just have 1 box ) (( 500RMS ))

PIONEER TS-A4675R 4"x6" for top of dash. (( 30RMS )) USING RADIO AMP for now.

ROCKFORD FOSGATE P1692 PUNCH 6" X 9" (( 75RMS ))

Sound Ordnance M-2100 2CH AMP. (( 75RMS X 2 )) FOR 6"X9"

1.0-farad capacitor . one right now, going to pick up 2 - 1.5-farad.

running 4ga wire to, 1in- 4out blocks. 8ga. from blocks to amps.

i plan on getting a few more things.

ok my first ?

i shaved my antenna on my truck and right now im using a fm car antenna booster that i got from autozone.

well its crap .

so im wandering if there a " good one " ??

can you please post link ?

i need one thats going to work and keep my channels in tune.

Who listens to the radio? I havent in 6 years or more ..between thumb drives and pandora one fm radio is for the stone age

Ditch the caps, run 0/1 gauge wire from battery to start. There are a few vendors on here that can help with that, also do the big 3 in the same size wire. That way, you will be ready for any amp upgrades in the future, and there WILL be upgrades. Put a decent agm batt under the hood also. Others will comment about your sub choice, but I will only say, if it works for YOU, then so be it, there is much better available.

ok ill yell you why i have what i have..

cap right now thats the only thing keeping my truck running when its turned up, ya i know but right now its going to stay until i get me a high amp alt. and thinking of a audio battery. i do have a yellow top battery.

and ya back when i install the big 3 i did not plan on going bigger. so that will be changed for sure. and plan on doing a few 0/1 grounding straps motor to frame,, motor to body,, body to frame.

an i want to put a throw bolt under my amps for a grounding strap.

so i still have to order the wire,, blocks,, terminals.

ok you say you don't like my sub choice, why ??

you have to remember if your going to recommend me subs or what every im not rich im disabled so i get little money.

i picked that sub/box off ebay for $140 shipped. and it does slam. when i turn it up my vision is bleary and i can fell it in my chest, is there better sure i know there is.

if you know of a better sub with ported box that will take 600rms please let me know but i don't have a lot to spend. but im always looking for better.

i came on this forum to learn more, so please teach me....

o for the first guy asking why radio, well i use the radio more then the cd player.

so im looking for a good fm booster antenna.

the one i have is mounted inside top of windshield. i have gotten it better but it still goes in and out.

I'll just tell you now that when it comes to car audio and people who are deep in the game... brands like kicker are rarely used. You should look into c2 audio, soundqubed, American Bass, or used Sundown/DD/SSA. All of those will have excellent build quality and sound/output if put into the right box. Definitely look into a custom built box, some guys on here can design and give you cut sheets...all you have to do is run to home depot, have them make the cuts... you put it together and cut out the circle for the woofer and mount.

When we had a shaved fm antennae we actually took two antannae and put them on each side of the wheel wells, curved and mounted inside. Reception was pretty good.

Could also use several sitting just inside the grill of the car, along the a pillar in the window, etc. Not sure if this helps.

as for the subs, wow that just shows you im not heavy into this stuff. wow so many good stuff out there that i had no idea.

i have been doing a lot of reading and i can say im lost....

if you say kicker is not good, many what am i missing.. ill have to look into getting a box made, but first i need to pick a few and ask on this forum if any will work in my truck ( meaning can i get that box in my truck )

ok let say you had little money like i do, and you wanted the best what brands would you pick. that way i can look there.

o i forgot to say as im sure this matters..

i want 2-12" box must be ported.

i just need to figure out what type of sub i want, like do i want d.v.c or s.v.c. do i want 2ohm or 4ohm or 1ohm.

man to many types of 1 sub...

A good budget sub right now, appears to be the new sq hds200 series subs. Check their website, there is usually an ad for them at the top of this page. An hds212 is $85 shipped, or you can peruse the classifieds on here, and come up on a decent for sale deal. Most important is the enclosure, will make or break your sounds.
