Alpine + iPod?

-Searching by artist or album is tedious at best with the GlideTouch. It's a great interface (IMHO), but I would have liked a "fast scroll" button or something to go along with it. Basically, if you run your finger across the bar quickly, it skips something like 20 artists or albums at a time.

Are you saying that you don't need several minutes to scroll down to artists or albums far down in the alphabet, like others have complained about? You can just skip a bunch and get to, say N, quickly? If so, that's great!

Not quite... While sliding your finger across the glidetouch quickly will skip artists, it's really tough ot do a "fast slide" consistently. So, it's not super quick. It takes me about a minute or two to get through the 250 artists I've got loaded into my Ipod. Of course, you can also search backwards by dragging your finger in the opposite direction. After a couple of weeks, I can find most songs on my Ipod within about 90 seconds. it's not by any means as quick as the ipod's interface, but not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

As for the question about EAC- the latest version passes the tag information to the LAME encoder. All of my tags come through nicely. I was a bit worried about that when I started, but I've done about 50 CD's in the past few days, and it's been okay so far.

Yup. Basically, if you go backwards from the first item that appears on the screen, you'll see "ALL". Keep going backwards from there, an you'll get to Z and so forth.
