Alpine Ipod interface?

will the new KCE-422I be compatible with my 9853? or does it only go along with the new 06' models? i see its only $29.99 in this weeks bestbuy add, compared to the old $100.00 huge interface they had last year.

i believe its for the 06 models. older models have to use the bulkier 100 dollar interface
