Alpine HU's CD text

I notice on my mp3's some of the songs show up as far as title goes and artist etc. But then some others don't... none of the mp3's have id tags on them... why would some show and some not? Is there something special I should be doing for them to work?

nismo i think your referring to teh cda 9887. You can go to the general display menu and select text scrolling settings and chose manual scrolling or automatic something like that. Play with the settings and display its there at work an not in my car.

Ya but sometimes the HU will just say " No support" Even if the mp3 has no tags like all the rest, so do I have to put tags on each mp3 for it to work on all songs?

I got a program to work around this. I used mp3tagv2.39. I can remove all tags of my mp3's with it and add my own, and it will do it in any format I request. So I can have all of the title and artist info displayed on the title or artist name and display that on the face of the hu depending on which setting I select for display. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So the cd text is the same way... ID3 tags are required for it to work properly.

I got a program to work around this. I used mp3tagv2.39. I can remove all tags of my mp3's with it and add my own, and it will do it in any format I request. I'm having a similar problem w. my 9885. It hasn't displayed any information on any CD I've played. I tried putting tags on MP3s and still no luck. What program do you use to put on tags? I'm using Tag&Rename. It will put on an ID3v2 tag, but I'm not sure which specific version (i.e., if it is .39 or what). I tried ID3v1 tags, but that didn't work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried using mp3tag v2.XX it worked so far.

What you have to do is cycle through the display with that small button on the right till your titles and artists are displayed.

Thanks. I'll give that program a try. Maybe I'm not doing something right with Tag&Rename.

I use the "Title" button to cycle through. Nothing. Though, I just noticed something from the manual. Even with an MP3 CD, using the "Title" button brings up the icons associated with CDs vs. MP3s.

I'll try the MP3tag program.
