Alpine Head Unit Appreciation Thread

I've had a few Alpine head units over the years. I don't even remember the model numbers for some anymore. Most of those were older cassette decks. The ones that I do remember are the 7292s, 7511, TDA-7552, TDA-7558, CDE-7828, CDE-7831, CDA-7949 (a few), CDA-7894, CDA-7998 (a few), CDA-9835, CDA-9887, and a CDA-117.

Out of all these, my favorite would have to be the CDA-7949, followed by the CDA-7998.

I have owned

7998

7909

7990

9835

9855

9886

9887

And various other CDA decks along the way.

I am currently running a 9830 untill I get another 9855 back from repair I will be running it with a RUX-C701 and a H-701 processor.

Liked my 9855's but I am selling them now for Eclipses...
i just snagged a CD8455 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

But my CDA-105 has been good to me, especially for its age and original price tag. They wernt but like 100bucks

CDA-7941 is what I have (still never installed).......

But I wish I could find a 7949 instead since I have a PRA-H400 T/A Xover that was made to pair with the 7949 through a digital toslink hoolup.

I run a CDA-7998 with the PXA-H700 and the controller mounted under the head unit. I have a CDA-7894 in the work vehicle and a CDA-7878 in a closet at home. I also picked up a couple of units that I don't have a use for: CVA-1003 with a fold out screen and a DVA-5200 DVD player with optical out.

my favorite is the CDA-7930. used it several times, even recently with the H701, and before with the G320. clean, simple, well made.

i've used dozens of Alpine HU's, still run them. Have the 9887 in mine and the 9833 the wife's. i enjoy T/A and crossovers built into the HU, but all of the fancy features takes away from core sound quality. i love the simplicity.

I'll take my 9855 in my Jeep. I love that thing. The Jeep is the 3rd vehicle I've had it in since 2005. I don't plan on ever getting rid of it.

I also love the 9965. I've never had one though.

I started out owning pioneer and when I started to REALLY get into stereos I bought a P860MP and a 9855 for myself and my friend who was doing his first build. They sounded much warmer than the pioneer for sure. Pioneer should have been a better deck than the 9855 as far as specs went, but it didnt have that feeeeel. Never did run active with them though. (Actually I used the 860 while I was getting the run around on a deck). Scored both 9855s for like 115 bucks though. Wish I still had um.

I have had:

X200

X100

9855

9855

9853

117

Some older lower end model

MP3 CD changer

9886

9887

I have always wanted another 9855 honestly, just been afraid after I bought the 9853 and it would grind when you put a CD in it -___- I will say that coming to the 9887 it is nice to be active with alpine again, but I can hear mech noises when playing at high volume, esp with the iPod. That really bothers me and may facilitate more hunting. Also for the cost of the 9887 or 9855 I would expect some updates in the software after 4 years. More than 7 bands would be nice too. Really tempting to not go to the 80PRS, though I am concerned for mech noise and poor quality in the quality for that price if you nawwmeen
