i have a g35 with an alpine type E 12 inch sub. i am going to make a fiberglass box for my trunk. i was wondering if it was worth porting it. i have a ski access to my trunk via the armrest in the backseat. if i did port, i would like to port throught there. here are the speks on the alpine.....type E

any thoughts?

so your saying that it is worth porting that sub? sealed or ported is the question. if ported your sayin not to fire through the armrest straight into the car?

IMO, just seal it (all Alpine subs sound better sealed from personal experience/preference). Type-E woofers are entry-level and aren't designed to get particularly loud. It's going to be tricky to tune a port for that woofer.

how is tuning a port different for an alpine than any other woofer? thats bullsh1t. it may be hard to get it do sound decent, but decent in this case is a matter of personal preference. the gain in output by porting it maybe worth the sacrifice in sound quality to him.

however, porting a fiberglass box and tuning it right is no easy task. if you really want to though, the easiest way is using a pvc port (3 or 4 inches diameter).
