Alpine Faces Interchangable?

Are Alpine faces interchangable from their like-series such has 7894/7995. I just scooped one up for pretty cheap with the main purpose of switching the faces. Im pretty sick of the black/red/green that the 7894 has. I used to have the 7875 (blue/black/silver) and loved the way it look and silver/blue are my favorite colors.

I asked this question a while ago and didnt get a definite answer...

yep, i dont have it yet. i went ahead and scooped it up for a cheap price. I hope they are interchangable...

lol I have something similar to say that goes along that lines. I have a Pioneer DEH-P4400 H/u, and my friend has a Pioneer DEH-P6400. Mine has all the features of his and they are identical in every way but the face, his has the OEL Display and mine doesnt, I was wondering if his faceplate would work on mine? Im betting it wouldnt but I was hopeing someone may have already tried it and had some success or complete failure.

Yes and no.

I did this very swap.

The 7995 face will work on the 7894, but the display will be completely black. All the controls still work though. Same thing for the 7894 face on the 7995.

One swap that MAY work is the 7983/7894 swap. These faces are very similar in that they both have the same type of display, rather than the 7995 having the dot matrix display.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like ill have to bust out the tools and do some minor modification so that i can have nice blue buttons.

Im expecting the cd player tomarrow hopefully so ill tell everyone the before and after results.

Got my alpine 7995 today and the face lights up and works, however the display doesnt work just like DZ said. SOOO.... i pulled the ol switch-eroonie trick and now i got the alpine 7894 mattj edition

why dont you try the 7893 its the silver face and one model down from the 94 only difference is that the 7893 doesnt play mp3's but had the nice looking face... but they are identical units minus mp3 playback
