alpine deck repair?

ok so i bought a new 9857 on may 30th... bought it from ikesound (yes i know what you're gonna say) but i have bought from them many many times since 2002 and always been satisfied...

well there is no sound comming out of it... im guessing the internal amp took a dump (wtf it only lasts a month and a half?!?!) with only 2 speakers hooked up to it too... but anyways... to get it repaired, i have to pay to send it back, pay a $35 return fee, and then they will send it off for "repair", which takes 6-8 weeks they say...

i dont know if the preouts still work or not, but i was planning on running all my speakers off an external amp anyways once i get them..

so what would you guys do? i really really dont wanna pay $45-$50 and have to wait till september to have music in my car... would it be faster if i just took it to a shop to repair it, or will it have to go back to alpine for repairs? or should i just say fuk it and run external amps off it (hopfully the preouts still work) and then just be screwed if i ever decide to sell it?

well i guess if i did sell it w/o the internal amp working and took $45-$50 off the price i'd be better off...

ok update (guess im only talking to myself anyways...) I just tried hooking up and amp, and guess waht, the preouts are dead too.... stupid POS i almost punted it out into the rain...

so i get out me ol' 9803 and do the wiring harness on it, and its dead... worked perfectly when i took it out for the 9857, but somehow it doesnt work at all now... just a little curious probing around with a DMM and i get NO reading of a connection between the ground wire and the chassis... but, the +12 wire has a connection to the chassis... so i guess it somehow managed to **** itself in the 3 weeks that it was sitting inside in my room...

luckily i remember where i put the old stock cdplayer, so i just threw that ***** back in... yeah ridin with the stock deck now but at least i have something to listen to...

does anyone on here repair decks or can reccomend a place i can get it repaired? the closest alpine authorized repair center is in VA and they will do it for $75 plus parts... at this poit i would pay that today right now if i could have it fixed by next week... but unfortunately i would have to pay shipping both ways and add on a few more days... ahhh
