alpine deck help

ok i got a new alpine deck and i noticed on the harness for the deck the ground wire has a metal piece on it that they say u should connect to the battery but then on my other harness the one that plugs into where the factory radio was theres a black ground wire. on every other deck ive installed ive just put the 2 black wires together and it works fine i was wonderin if i could do that with this like cut the metal piece of the alpine harness and tie it with the harness for the car.

id just cut it or find new ground on the floor or firewall. If you cut it make sure you butt connect or use male female conn.
