Alpine CDA9886 vs Eclipse CD5000

I'm debating between these 2 units. Wanting to know which one is better. Better quality, better settings, etc. Will there be much of a SQ difference between the 2?

Both are around the same price. ($250) and I like the looks of the Alpine better, but I rather have the one with better quality.

This appears to be a no brainer. You are comparing what should normally be a 4-500 dollar head unit (the eclipse) to an Alpine that retails for 300 and costs another 150 bucks to unlock the features that make it remoteley competetive to the Eclipse.

are you planning to go active? if not, do you use an Ipod has a main source? I had a CD5000, and i loved it. However, i traded it for a CD7000 recently to go active. The CD5000 sounds pretty good out of the box.

Yeah the more I look the more I think it's not even fair to compare the 2, the 9887 is really Alpine's more comparable HU.
